Schumacher joins Mugello test

Michael Schumachers title hopes may be looking slim, but that doesnt mean he wont be pushing all the way. The world champion was back on the test track on Wednesday, looking to maximise Ferraris chances for this weekends German Grand Prix.
Schumacher joined official tester Marc Gene at the Mugello circuit in Tuscany. While the German worked on set-up in the F2005, the Spaniard concentrated on tyre testing in an F2004. Schumacher completed 85 laps, with a best of 1m 21.601s. Gene did 96, his quickest a 1m 22.016s.
Ferrari will introduce a revised aero package at Hockenheim, which Schumacher hopes will give the team a much-needed boost. A strong result is crucial if he is stay in touch with Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen in the championship race. He is currently third in the standings on 43 points, 34 behind Alonso.
Ferrari will be testing right up to the last minute in their push for pace in Germany. Their programme continues at Mugello on Thursday, with Gene again at the wheel along with Luca Badoer.
